TFtember: Transformers#6

"The Worse of Two Evils" the Transformers#6 (July 1985) with credits to Bob Budiansky (script), Alan Kupperberg (pencils), Nelson Yomtov (colors), Rick Parker (letters), and Christopher J. Priest (editor)

Picking from last issue, Shockwave is taking his role as boss very serious. First on the agenda-energy. Last issue we caught a brief glimpse of GB Blackrock (think Tony Stark only less booze). This time he's the focus, not only of the issue but also Shockwave's attack.

Yup, seems Blackrock's latest venture is high tech oil rigs. Top of the line with all the latest doodads and the like plus more oil than his competitors. This is what Shockwave is after though and he gets it. Seems all the latest doodads didn't account for a twenty story tall purple cyclopean robot.

None of this matters to Josie Beller. She's Blackrock's top scientist and helped design the rig. She's taking the attack rather personal. She even tries to launch a counterattack but Shockwave easily blows them (and her) up.

Back at the Ark, Optimus Prime is still alive-sort of. He tells Buster to take some wires from his head and put them against his. Buster does so and promptly gets electrocuted. He comes to and finds Ratchet. They confer as Shockwave returns.

Shockwave makes it clear that he's done more in twenty-four hours than Megatron did a a few centuries. This sets off the former Decepticon commander, who tears himself from his sick bay and attacks his former subordinate.

They tear up the countryside but Megatron should have waited a little longer. He's in no shape to fight and Shockwave easily smacks him down. He drags the beaten Megatron back to the Ark and chucks him down before the stunned Decepticons. He's in charge now, and don't you forget it.

So far a pretty good use of Shockwave. We establish he's strong and more ruthless than Megatron and also we gets more on Josie Beller. She gets injured pretty bad here but she'll be back and soon in a new form.
