TFtember: Transformers#10

"The Next Best Thing to Being There" the Transformers#9 (November 1985) with credits to Bob Budiansky (script), Ricardo Villamonte (pencils), Brad Joyce (inks), Nelson Yomtov (colors), Janice Chiang (letters), and Mike Carlin (editor)

Given this is the end of the comic reviews, seems funny we end with the introduction of Devastator.

Shockwave still has control of a Blackrock plant, forcing the humans there to work. With the technology available plus Prime's Creation Matrix, Shockwave welcomes six new Decepticons to the world: The Constructicons!

With them only minutes old he gives them their first assignment: Build a radio to contact Cybertron. Ain't kids precious?

Prowl, meanwhile, is giving Blackrock a tour of the Ark when Bumblebee radios in, reporting that six new Decepticons have left the plant. Huffer doesn't care about that, however, and focuses his attention on repairing their radio so they can contract Cybertron first. Which is fine, but that wasn't his assigned job.

Speaking of home, Sparkplug is finally out of the hospital and returns to find...his garage empty? Yeah, seems Buster fixed every car that they had backlogged. Even Buster can't explain it.

In Idaho, Bomber Bill is taking a much needed break as he heads home. He's been on the road for days in his truck, but when he gets home, everything will be fine. So naturally the Constructicons steal it for parts. Bill is a bit put out, but when Huffer rolls by he offers the human lift, sensing they're kindred spirits.

The Autobots track down the Constructicons, but the tide is turned when they form Devastator. Huffer gets to the radio but hesitates. After all, with this he can finally reach home...but his hesitation is enough for Soundwave to take over and start a broadcast of his own. Bomber Bill sacrifices his truck to wreck the device. The Decepticons retreat, satisfied they got a partial message out.

Back at the plant, Shockwave tries to bring a new jet, Jetfire, to life but finds he can't. It appears that Prime's Creation Matrix may be out of juice. If that's the case, then his usefulness is about to come to an end...

Good but man, the Autobots seem to just barely scrap by in the comic, don't they? Even when they win somehow the Decepticons still come out a ahead.
