Downshift
Well, this is the last character lookback for 2021. And we have the Paul Blart of the Transformers
Ok, not entirely fair. Downshift was part of the Omnibots mail away series (same as Camshaft). As a car he was a white Toyota Celica Supra. He also had an added bonus of attack missiles from his doors, plus you could stick his gun in his roof.
For the character, yeah, Paul Blart is pretty accurate. He's a scout but also security, with a personality of 'seeking out trouble before it becomes trouble' which leads to more problems.
Of course this all the cumulative effect. His first profile didn't give him a personality (as he was a mail-in), the last one made him a security guard. Marvel comics had the Transformers Universe (like Order of Battle for GI Joe or the Marvel Handbook) and while he had a profile planned it was never included. Seems he would have a depressed air defense expert with a soft spot for kids and Earth.
He never showed up in the Marvel comics but he did manage a small cameo in IDW's Strombringer series, right before Cyclonus punches his face in.
And like Camshaft, he never showed up in the cartoon.
