TFtember: Transformers#5

"The New Order" the Transformers#5 (June 1985) with credits to Bob Budiansky (script), Alan Kupperberg (pencils), Nelson Yomtov (colors), Rick Parker (letters), and Christopher J. Priest (editor)

So, moving into the first issue of the ongoing and wow, we see some changes.

Shockwave returned last issue, and in the span of a handful of pages he took down most of the Autobots. He has them strung up from the ceiling.

The Decepticons are getting over their poisoning, but Shockwave declares their state is the fault of management, so clearly he needs to take over from Megatron. Megatron weakly agrees, but he's clearly not onboard.

Sparkplug, still recovering from his heart attack, makes it clear he wants nothing to do with any more giant robots, Autobot or Decepticon. He makes Buster agree, but when the lad leaves the hospital he runs into Ratchet. The medic understands, but he still takes Buster back to the Ark to say a proper goodbye. That's when they notice their friends hanging around.

Buster and Ratchet start to despair, but they notice that Optimus Prime isn't among the hanging. Clearly there's hope!

No, no there is not, as they find Prime's severed head in another room. Before all hope is crushed, Prime's eye's flicker on and inform Buster he is their last hope.

Pretty good. In just one issue Shockwave manages to be more competent than all the Decepticons combined and manages to overthrow Megatron, no mean feat.

We also see GB Blackrock and Josie Beller here for the first time, but their stories will be expanded on later.
