The Pain and the Power-Superstars Profile#124

The Powers of Pain

Real names: (B) Sione Vailahi (W)Terry Szopinski

Hometown: Parts Unknown

Membership: The Barbarian, the Warlord, Mr. Fuji, the Baron

A.K.A.: Super Assassins, the Super Destroyers

Background: As mentioned, Tito Santana brought the two in for revenge for Demolition's attack on Strike Force.

They VERY quickly ditched Santana and hooked up with the Baron, but the older man retired. During a dust up, the Powers quickly betrayed their allies and took in Mr. Fuji after Demolition beat the older jerk senseless.

From there Fuji called the shots.

For the most part they did alright, but they went from major forces to minor thugs at best. In 1990 they split, with Fuji selling the Barbarian's contract to Bobby "the Brain" Heenan and the Warlord to Slick. They would reunite later in Japan some years later and still fight to this day.

The Violence-Superstars Profile#123

The Warlord

Real name: Terry Szopinski

Hometown: Parts Unknown

Membership: Powers of Pain, Super Assassins, Paul Jones Army

A.K.A.: Super Assassin#2, Violence Warlord

Finisher: Full Nelson

Background: Tito Santana was desperate.

His partner Rick was injured by Demolition. What could he do? He went out and found the toughest guys he could find. The Barbarian he knew of but he found the Warlord throwing Mike Sharpe through a bar window.

Thus the Powers of Pain were born. The Warlord was born. He would split from the Powers in the 90s and his tales are accounted elsewhere.

The Greatest Athlete in Canada-Superstars Profile#122

Iron Mike Sharpe

Real name: Michael Sharpe

Hometown: Hamilton, Ontario, Canada

Membership: JOB Squad

A.K.A.: Mike Sharpe, Jr.

Finisher: Hammer Punch

Background: A father and uncle were champions from San Francisco to Japan, so Mike figured he had to step up his game. Why not get super powers?

Pity he didn't just have the budget. Still, he earned something no one else could boast of, the ability to turn his flesh into solid iron!

Well, his forearm at least. Still, he could whack you good with it.

Shockingly this didn't lead him to leading the Superstars. McMahon saw some use in him and had him placed on the JOB Squad-designed to make the heroes look good. Thus Mike went out night after night and got the stuffing kicked out of him.

Just a Playboy-Superstars Profile#121

"Playboy" Buddy Rose

Real name: Paul E. Perschmann

Hometown: Las Vegas, NV

Membership: The Heenan Family, Beach Boys

A.K.A.: The Executioner

Finisher: DDT

Background: From brief hero, to crook, to fad diet salesman. What a trip, eh?

Buddy trained alongside the future Sgt. Slaughter but found crime more profitable. In the West, he had established himself as a bold figure, robbing and romancing the ladies with equal passion. By the time he got on McMahon's radar, he had let himself go somewhat.

He tried going as the "Playboy" but that didn't exactly set any records. Bobby Heenan slapped a mask on him and called him the Executioner but he was thoroughly trounced by Tito Santana.

After that the Brain had Buddy demoted, finally using him to sell a useless weight loss power in the 90s.

The Polish Hammer-Superstars Profile#120

Ivan Putski

Real name: Jozef Bednarksi

Hometown: Krakow, Poland

Membership: Superstars, partners with Tito Santana

A.K.A.: Hercules Jim Bednarksi

Finisher: The Polish Hammer

Background: A tough talking PI might be a bit cliche, but it works.

Ivan, after his family moved to the USA, worked a variety of jobs. He disliked bullies, which tended to get him into trouble. In 1974 he found himself working in New York, where he sort of fell into the detective line. He was good, good enough to get on with the Superstars and working with Pedro Morales.

Later he worked alongside rookie NYPD detective Tito Santana, and even helped get him on the Superstars. Sadly the 80s would be less than kind and he officially retired in 1987. He came out of retirement a few times in the 90's to help his son Scott.

The Magnificent Rock-Superstars Profile#119

Don Muraco

Real name: Don Muraco

Hometown: Sunset Beach, HI

Membership: Superstars, partners with Lou Albano, Mr. Fuji, Superstar Billy Graham, the Grand Wizard, "Cowboy" Bob Orton, Dangerous Alliance, Hot Stuff International

A.K.A.: Aka Oni, Don Morrow, Doc X

Finisher: Reverse Piledriver

Background: One of the last great villains.

Yeah, Don started out as a hero, first mainly in the Midwest before relocating to San Fransico. By the time he hit Florida, he figured being a bad guy paid more.

Heading up North, he made headlines when he took on the Superfly. From there he was fighting any and all comers but when McMahon Jr. took over, things changed. Don did try a shot being an actor, staring in a few pilots that failed to get picked up (such as FUJI VICE). Muraco wasn't a 100 percent sold on being a good guy again, but for the money involved, eh, he'd give it a shot.

This served him well but by the late 80's Don found himself let go. He wandered a bit before heading over to Philly for a bit but by 1995 he had enough and retired.

The Big Cat-Superstars Profile#118

Ernie Ladd

Real name: Ernest Ladd

Hometown: New Orleans, LA

Membership: Partners with Leroy Brown

A.K.A.: The King

Finisher: Big Boot

Background: The 1970s were wild, man.

Ernie Ladd, formerly big man of the gridiron, fell into fighting at first as a means of making some pocket money during the off season. Sidelined by an injury, Ladd saw this as a means of making more money. Soon he was taking on Bruno Sammartino himself, tangling with most of the Superstars at one point or another.

Then the 80's happened. Now aged, Ladd tried to make it a go with the new McMahon but he was quickly regulated to being a color commentator for Titan News before being phased out for Bobby Heenan. He quietly retired in 1988.

A King in a Strange Land-Superstars Profile#117

The Wizard

Real name: Curtis Iaukea

Hometown: Honolulu, HI

Membership: Partners with Kamala, Tosh Togo, Baron Scicluna, the Tycoons, Army of Darkness, Dungeon of Doom

A.K.A.: The Chairman of the Board, Prince Curtis, the Master, the Wizard

Finisher: Big Splash

Background: A minor footnote but he was hard to ignore.

As far as Hawaii goes, King Curtis was a mover and a groover, a hellraiser without peer. Probably explains why he headed east and waged a one man war on the West Coast.

By the 80s, he had slowed down a bit and got into the management. Taking a cue from the dearly departed Grand Wizard, King Curtis became the Wizard; even managed to work with Kamala for a bit, but he found the South far more lucrative.

The Winner!-Superstars Profile#116

Barry Horowitz

Real name: Barry Horowitz

Hometown: St. Petersburg, FL

Membership: Partners with Percy Pringle, Paul E. Dangerously, JOB Squad

A.K.A.: Brett Hart, the Red Knight, Jack Hart

Finisher: Cloverleaf

Background: Truely, he was the hero that Florida needed

Yeah, growing up in an open aired insane asylum is going to have an impact on a fellow. Barry dreamed of being a hero. He worked under various names but he could never get above local level. He went up North but instead of fighting beside Hulk Hogan he ended up on the JOB Squad (fellows tasked to essentially spar with the heroes or villains).

Which was an important job, true, but Barry's role became one of showing up and making the heroes look good. He did a fine job, and even got a few wins every so often but he grew bored. He head South and West, but his fortunes failed to grow.

Not the BEEES!-Superstars Profile#115

The Killer Bees

Real names: (JB) James Brunzell (BBB) Brian Blair

Hometown: (JB) White Lake, MN (BBB) Gary, IN

Membership:  "Jumping" Jim Brunzell, B. Brian Blair

A.K.A.: Masked Confusion

Finisher: Bee Stinger

Background: Ever see an idea that you know full well can't work?

Oh, the guys weren't bad; Brunzell had been a small time hero in the Midwest, while Blair had been doing some decent work down south. They both approached McMahon but he told them they were too bland. Stumped, the figured they should work together.

It was there they found the masks. They have been tight lipped on their origin. Some argued that they picked them up from Mil Mascaras or stole them from the Conquistadors.

What is known is the power-which doesn't say much. Basically if you wear one, you can switch places with whoever is wearing the other, but they only have a range of a few feet.

You also have to be wearing yellow and black stipes.

Yeah, they didn't exactly set the world on fire, and they left the Superstars in 1988 but they reunited a few times over the years before finally calling it quits in 1994.

I Pity the Fool-Superstars Profile#114

Mr. T

Real name: Laurence Tureaud

Hometown: Chicago, IL

Membership:  Superstars

A.K.A.: Mr. T doesn't need to be known as anything else

Finisher: Body slam

Background: The man, the myth, the legend.

Indeed, the very personification of the 1980s.

Tureaud was a perfect all-American success story; came from nothing and worked his way up to superstardom.

T's whole motivation was being the best in any field. Sports, military, even being a bouncer. It was the last one that got him on Hollywood's radar and from there no less a person than Hulk Hogan came to ask him to join the Superstars.

Which he did, aiding Hogan against Piper before retiring to focus on acting and charity work.

Bust that Bronco!-Superstars Profile#113

The Widowmaker

Real name: Barry Windham

Hometown: Sweetwater, TX

Membership:  US Express, New Blackjacks, Four Horsemen, NWA, Extreme Horsemen, West Texas Rednecks, Yamasaki Corp. Partners with Dustin Rhodes, Ron Bass, and Kendell Windham

A.K.A.: Dirty Yellow Dog, Blackjack Mulligan, Jr., the Stalker

Finisher: Lariet

Background: He was feeling mighty low. Why not be a cowboy?

Dealing with a lot of family drama, Barry retreated back to Texas. He still needed a job, but it seemed that a good old boy just wasn't the selling point it used to be; therefore McMahon brought him back this time as a cowboy themed villain.

For six months Barry took on the JOB Squad but the public didn't care and frankly neither did he. Why was a cowboy robbing a bank? Ideas were pushed; rocket horses laser lassoes, etc, but Barry didn't care.

He got an offer to work down South and he took it in a heartbeat.

The Birdman-Superstars Profile#112

Koko B. Ware

Real name: James W. Ware, Jr.

Hometown: Union City, TN

Membership:  Superstars, High Energy, Pretty Young Things, First Family

A.K.A.: Sweet Sugar Brown, Stagger Lee

Finisher: Birdbuster

Background: A bird's gotta fly man

Ware started out as a truck driver in the south. He fell into the hero business by accident, knocking out a gangster by mistake. He fell into a bit of trouble after that, until he struck on the idea of a mask and thus Stagger Lee prowled the streets of Memphis.

But hiding behind a mask did little for the young Ware, thus he went up North and joined the Superstars. He needed a gimmick, something to make him stand out, but what?

Then a macaw crashed through his living room window and inspiration struck. Donning his flashiest duds, and taking the bird with him, the Birdman was born!

He did alright throughout the 80s but the 90s would be less kind.

The Mad Dog-Superstars Profile#111

Mad Dog Vachon

Real name: Maurice Vachon

Hometown: Montreal, Quebec, Canada

Membership:  The Vachons, partners with Baron Von Raschke, the Crusher, and Verne Gagne

A.K.A.: N/A

Finisher: Piledriver

Background: It's in the blood sometimes.

Maurice had some chops and even made a go as a professional athlete but sadly he was working as a bouncer by the time he fell in with Verne Gagne. He being a hero but the Baron offered him money and that's what he needed.

From there he was arguably one of the toughest fellows on the east coast, often teaming up with his brother.

He finally retired quietly in 1986.

WAAAARRRRIIIIOORRRRRRSSSS!-Superstars Profile#110

The Ultimate Warrior

Real name: Jim Hellwig-maybe?

Hometown: Parts Unknown

Membership:  Superstars, Blade Runners, Freedom Fighters, Powerteam USA, Ultimate Maniacs, One Warrior Nation

A.K.A.: Rock, Jim Justice, Dingo Warrior

Finisher: Ultimate Splash

Background: Ye gods, how does one start?

Who was he? WHAT was he?

His actually background is unknown. He looks like a man named Jim Hellwig, who vanished into the dessert wastes looking for truth. What walked out was a loon that no one could understand.

He drifted from team to team taking various monikers but he was usually silent. He did a stint in Texas, claiming to be from Australia but that was quickly disproven.

He showed up in New York around 1987, now calling himself the Ultimate Warrior. From there he took the world by storm, even replacing Hulk Hogan as leader of the Superstars for a bit, but the 90s would be both the best and worst time for him.

The Kid of Tonga-Superstars Profile#109

The Tonga Kid

Real name: Sam Fatu

Hometown: The Isle of Samoa

Membership:  Great Samoans, Islanders, New Samoans, Heenan Family, Superstars

A.K.A.: Fatu, Samoan#4, Wild Samoan Savage

Finisher: Head butt

Background: Family is family

Well, when most of your family and country are either heroes or villains, why not follow them? The main issue was Fatu had the looks but he lacked the skills of his kinsmen.

Oh, he wasn't awful, but he wasn't the Superfly. Which in hindsight might have been a good thing.

He tried the hero route but his tenure was brief. He did the whole crime thing, even ran with the Brain, but he found more success outside New York.

Monday, May 15, 2023

The Bulldog-Superstars Profile#108

"Bulldog" Buzz Sawyer

Real name: Bruce Woyan

Hometown: St. Petersburg, FL

Membership:  Army of Darkness, Gary Hart International, J-Tex Corp. Partners with Ole Anderson, Brett Sawyer, Matt Borne

A.K.A.: N/A

Finisher: Powerslam

Background: Sometimes a guy's just a jerk.

Yeah, Sawyer was a your typical jerk jock, might have gone on to college then a dealership if he hadn't had a tantrum and smacked a referee. From he fell into being a crook rather quickly. He worked mostly in the Southeast, where his most notable fight was what was dubbed 'the Last Battle of Atlanta' against Tommy Rich.

The fight was so bloody it entered into legend almost instantly. Sawyer worked with Captain Lou briefly but he found too many enemies in McMahon's city.

The King of the Ring-Superstars Profile#107

King Harley Race

Real name: Harley Race

Hometown: Kanas City, MO

Membership:  The Long Brothers, Heenan Family

A.K.A.: The Great Mortimer, Jack Long

Finisher: Diving Headbutt

Background: Just a tough old dude.

I know, I know, that sums up like 80% of the people mentioned but in Race's case this is the main point.

Race has been the undisputed king of kings in regards to fighting, all throughout the Midwest and Southeast.

That's it, no gimmicks or powers, just a tough dude who could hurt people. Naturally Bobby "the Brain" Heenan thought he would be the one to take down Hulk Hogan and perhaps on any other day that would have been enough.

Pity that he had to run the idea past Mr. McMahon, who had apparently never heard of Race before, barely glanced at him and told him to make him a king.

Thus it came to pass that Harley Race became a king and fight other people, but went from Hogan to "Hacksaw" Jim Duggen in short order. He left in the late 80's and quietly retired to act as a manaager.

G'day Mate-Superstars Profile#106

Outback Jack

Real name: Peter Stilsbury

Hometown: Humpty Doo, NT, Australia

Membership:  Superstars

A.K.A.: Sgt. Green, the Mercenary

Finisher: the Boomerang

Background: Everybody wants to get into the act.

America wasn't the first to have powered heroes running amuck, but they did make it the most fashionable.

So, naturally Australia wanted to have someone on the global stage (they had heroes of their own, of course, but none of them ever got much ink outside their own boarders).

Taking an average mercenary and subjecting him to a battery of tests they got Outback Jack.

They are still apologizing to this day.

The problem was apparent, at least to a native Aussie. The man was a walking stereotype. Seriously, no one could understand what he was saying, and every other word out of his mouth was something about kangaroos or wallabies.

Thus he was sent to Titan Inc., officially as a good will gift. McMahon had him in a few fights but he just didn't click with the audience.

Going Boffo-Superstars Profile#105

 "Leaping" Lanny Poffo

Real name: Lanny Poffo

Hometown: Downers Grove, IL

Membership:  Superstars-JOB Squad

A.K.A.: The Genius, Lanny Holiday

Finisher: Moonsault

Background: From humble beginings, eh?

To answer rumors, yes, Lanny was the younger brother of Randy Savage. Their father was a hero, and it was expected that every member of the family would follow their father.

Lanny did that, as he was a dutiful son. He lacked the strength and charisma of his brother, so Lanny focused on the sky. He flip through the air with the greatest of ease.

Pity that wasn't enough to woo the public. So Lanny vowed to be the poet laurate, a knight in shining armor!

The public liked it, but not enough. Lanny grew desperate but that tale is told elsewhere.

Meanest Man in the Whole Dang Town-Superstars Profile#104

The One Man Gang

Real name: George Gray

Hometown: Halstead Street, Chicago

Membership:  Twin Towers, Dungeon of Doom

A.K.A.: Crusher Gray, Crusher Broomfield, Akeem

Finisher: 747 Splash

Background: Sometimes a name really says it all

George was a tough fellow. A born brawler, he fought across every street in Chicago. This got him noticed by more than a few people, including Slick.

Slick reached out, and George said sure. He motored up to New York. Didn't exactly set the world on fire, but he did smack quite a few people around. Tried going after Hogan, but came up short.

It was then Slick decided what he needed was a makeover, and that is chronicled elsewhere.

From Parts Unknown-Superstars Profile#103

The Missing Link

Real name: Unknown, but once coughed up a driver license that belonged to a Byron Robertson

Hometown: Parts Unknown

Membership: Heenan Family, Devestation, Inc.

A.K.A.: Robertson went by Crusader#2 and Dewey

Finisher: Figure-four leglock

Background: Who was he?

What was he?

What was known a hero, part of the Crusaders, went missing. Fighting the good fight? Getting iced while getting milk? Who knows?

Bobby Heenan debuted the newly dubbed Missing Link, claiming he picked him up in a Texas sideshow. The Missing Link was freaky strong and hated Hogan, so that was good enough.

Not enough for Heenan though. Paul Orndorff took him for a good size bounty and the Link vanished for all parts west.

Tuesday, May 9, 2023

The Ugandian Giant-Superstars Profile#102

Kamala

Real name: James Harris

Hometown: Jungles of Uganda (unofficially Senatobia, MS)

Membership: Superstars, partners with Sika, Devestation, Inc., First Family, Dungeon of Doom

A.K.A.: Bad News Harris, Mississippi Mauler, Superfly

Finisher: Kamala Splash

Background: Look, it was the 80's.

Harris grew up fairly rough and had more than a few run ins with the law. He didn't care for that, and then he noticed that costumed fellows that seemed to have no issue with either money or staying out of jail, so he figured why not?

He signed on with Percy Pringle but never got above being a general legbreaker. In Memphis is where Kamala was born, mostly by cobbling together a costume and smacking Jerry Lawler. "Classy" Freddy Blassie took notice of his work and invited him up north. Sticking him with a 'translator' (mostly just to make sure he didn't actually main Hogan), Kamala did pretty well but left in the 80's for greener pastures.

He returned in the 90s but that is accounted elsewhere.

Monday, May 8, 2023

The Island King-Superstars Profile#101

Haku

Real name: Tonga Fifita

Hometown: The Island of Tonga

Membership: The Islanders, Colossal Connection, partners with the Barbarian, Faces of Fear, the Heenan Family, Stud Stable, Dungeon of Doom, Alliance to End Hulkamania

A.K.A.: King Haku, King Tonga, Meng

Finisher: Tongan Death Grip

Background: The toughest man across two oceans.

Tonga was discovered to be a great fighter. Even untrained he could take on anyone; at first picked to Tonga's national hero team, the Islanders defected to the Heenan Family while tackling the Can-Am Connection.

From there the Brain found out a few things, namely Haku was the single toughest SOB he had ever seen or worked with. Not saying that was a bad thing, mind you, but that an issue-he was too good.

When Harley Race was injured, he passed his crown on Haku, with didn't exactly cool his ego but losing to Jim Duggen did. From there Haku stayed mostly just at mid-level. Not big enough to take on Hogan directly all the time, but good enough to stay in McMahon's good graces.

We Love to Rock and We Love to Party-Superstars Profile#100

The Rockers

Real names: (SM) Michael Shawn Hickenbottom (MJ) Martin Jannetty

Hometown: (SM) San Antonio, TX (MJ) Columbus, GA

Membership: Shawn Michaels, Marty Jannetty

A.K.A.: (SM) Sean Michaels, the Heartbreak Kid (MJ) Marty Oats (both) the Midnight Rockers

Finisher: Rocker-plex

Background: Just two guys who liked to party

The pair who would be the Rockers met in Kansas City. There was a brawl and the pair met in the chaos. They parted on good terms, but by chance they met up in Minnesota. Verne Gagne was trying to appeal to the modern folks, so for his heroes he put what he figured were just two pretty boys out front. He assumed they would be good for photo ops and not much else.

They were good, real good. Michaels especially; that's when McMahon made them an offer.

Heading east, they arrived in the late 80s. There was some splash but not enough, at least not enough for Michaels. They ended the 80s on a sour note but the 90s would see the team end on a fairly definitive note and the ascent of the Heartbreak Kid.

Get Crushed!-Superstars Profile#99

Earthquake

Real name: John Tenta

Hometown: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

Membership: Superstars, Natural Disasters, Three Faces of Fear, Dungeon of Doom, the Oddities

A.K.A.: The Canadian Earthquake, Avalanche, the Shark, the Gargoyle, Golga

Finisher: Earthquake Splash

Background: Always a big guy

John was always a large fellow. He was scouted by a sumo manager and even had a string of victories under his belt before he left for home. The reason for why is still a matter of some debate; either he hit a glass ceiling in the sport or his attitude rubbed some the wrong way. Depends on who you ask.

From there he bummed around Canada for a bit, even finding work as a lumberjack. Seeing a competition between the Ultimate Warrior and Dino Bravo, John was picked to sit on their backs to demonstrate their strength. John figured he threw in with his countryman and jumped on the Warrior's back.

That got him noticed. Jimmy Hart quickly sought him out and used him as a weapon against Hulk Hogan and later Jake Roberts. He finished the 80's fairly high on the hog but the 90s would be a different story.

HOOOOOOOOOOO!-Superstars Profile#98

"Hacksaw" Jim Duggan

Real name: James E. Duggan, Jr.

Hometown: Glen Falls, NY

Membership: Superstars, Rat Pack, Team Canada, partners with Sgt. Slaughter

A.K.A.: The Convict, King Duggan, Crazy Duggan

Finisher: 3 Point stance clothesline

Background: Sometimes all you need in life is a 2X4.

Jim had an ok life, but got caught in the craziness of the hero game. He even tried his hand at the villain game too, playing a masked maruader by night, but after a chance encounter with Magnum TA he decided to devote his life to good.

He wandered the Earth for a bit and in these travels he found what would be his signature-a 2X4. The lumber piece called out to him, and no matter what he did it never cracked or splintered. He never wondered about it and even fewer people noticed. He joined the Superstars in 1987 but was never the main focus.

He left in the mid 90s for various other places.

Don't Go Messing with a Country Cousin-Superstars Profile#97

Cousin Junior

Real name: Lanny Neal Kean, Jr.

Hometown: Mudlick, KY

Membership: Moondogs, the Hillbilly Family

A.K.A.: Ox Brody, Moondog Cujo, King Harley Hogg, Big Daddy Cyrus

Finisher: Mule Kick

Background: Sometimes family is thicker than water, but it ain't thicker than moonshine.

Now, we have at length discussed Hillbilly Jim, son of the hills but are you aware he had a family? Yup, and his cousin, Junior, well he was as much of a hellrasier as his kin ever was.

Junior even ran with the Moondogs for a bit. Earned the name Cujo for his blood thristy way of fighting (also foaming at the mouth too). His wild ways, much like his kinfolk, eventually made it to his hometown and Hillbilly Jim was dispatched to bring him to heel.

Junior did what he granny ordered and played nice with his cousin but around 1986 he had quite enough of being a 'hillbilly' for a bunch of dang yankees to gawk at, so he up and left. He drifted around bit, got into trouble with Jerry Lawler and Jeff Jarrett.

Master of PAIN-Superstars Profile#96

The Barbarian

Real name: Sione Havea Vailahi

Hometown: Nuku'alofa, Tonga

Membership: The Powers of Pain, partners with Haku/King Haku, Headshrinkers, Super Assassins, Faces of Fear, Paul Jones Army, Heenan Family, Dungeon of Doom, Alliance to End Hulkamania, First Family

A.K.A.: Tonga John, Super Assassin#1. Sionne, King Konga, Konga the Barbarian

Finisher: Powerbomb

Background: As a young man, the man who would be the Barbarian was picked by no less than the King of Tonga to learn marital arts in Japan.

What came back was a different matter. Instead of honor or prestige, all he saw was money and how to get it. From there he went to America and raised as much hell as possible.

He got on Titan's radar thanks to Tito Santana, of all people. Strike Force was out of action. Tito saw the Barbarian and the Warlord tearing up some dock workers for pocket change. He made them an offer and they were tasked with tracking down and beating up Demolition.

They did that but quickly dumped Tito and started to hang out the aged Baron. They ditched the old villain and decided Mr. Fuji would make a better manager. He agreed and betrayed Demolition to them.

Fuji later sold the Barbarian's contract to Bobby Heenan, who insisted on a wardrobe change. From there he was certainly a presence, albeit never a major one. He tangled with Hogan a few times but neither man really got one over on each other.

He left New York in 1992 but came back in 1994 as a Headshrinker, but tale is told elsewhere.

The Jumping Bomb Angels-Superstars Profile#95

 The Jumping Bomb Angels

Real names: Noriyo Tateno, Itzuki Yamazaki

Hometown: (NT) Ashikaga, Tochigi, Japan (IY) Hyogo Prefecture, Japan

Membership: Noriyo Tateno, Itzuki Yamazaki

A.K.A.: N/A

Finisher: Flying Neckbreaker Drop

Background: Two heroes, two counties, seemed like a perfect fit, right?

McMahon had been looking to expand Titan's reach. He used foreign heroes before but rarely as a member of the Superstars. Reaching to one of the top hero agencies in Japan, McMahon got himself Tateno and Yamazaki.

That's when the trouble started. First, the gals were true and blue heroes. None of this dancing around bit and they weren't inclined to learn thus they could expose McMahon's operations at any time. 2nd, Moolah decided to intervene.

Backtalking, only having her students attack (the public gets bored when you only fight the same two people over and over) and no one else. The Angels were convinced that America held no future for them and left.

The Danish Delight-Superstars Profile#94

 Desiree Petersen

Real name: Desiree Petersen

Hometown: Copenhagen, Denmark

Membership: Superstars, partners with Velvet McIntyre

A.K.A.: Mailisa Dahl

Finisher: N/A

Background: Hailing from the land of mystery, Petersen made an impact by challenging Stu Hart. Impressed by her moxy, he sent to the Fabulous Moolah. In hindsight he might have been better off taking her on himself.

She was rushed through training and made her debut on the Superstars roster in time to see the women's division shuttered. She left for parts unknown, but occasionally pops up every so often.
