Remember the Solar Council? Yeah, they have yet another problem, so they kidnap Hal and implant false memories in his head. It seems a group of generals have betrayed the government and set up a rebel faction. Calling themselves the Junta, they have been trying to destroy things for a while.
Puzzling over things in his office, when a wandering magician bursts through his door and doing card tricks! Is this a common problem in the future?
It turns out, none of the generals can explain why they turned renegade, but all of them recall meeting Ferenc. Yeah, it turns out our simple traveling magician hypnotized the generals and bent them to his will. He tries to brainwash Hal but can't (insert pun here) but Hal counter by turning his statue (yeah, giant statue of Green Lantern got erected after last time) alive and having it smack the guy around.
Thus Hal is sent back to the 20th Century with no memory of the last few hours and metal in his hair, a fact he is oddly unconcerned with.
