I was tempted to make Sue Williams the villain here, but that seemed a bit silly.
The main story here are Hal's brothers. Older sibling Jack and younger bro Jim have asked Hal over for an important task. To wit, Jack is running for Coast City DA and they need Hal's help to hand out flyers. In walks Sue Williams, ace gal reporter. She is hunting for the secret identity of the Green Lantern she KNOWS who he is-Jim Jordan!
Naturally she is going to prove this, mostly by either basely accusing him or flinging herself off of balconies. Thankfully Hal is nearby in all cases to save her, but all this does is convince her even more of Jim being the hero.
When the two crooks kidnapped Jack, she is naturally put out at Jim's reluctance to leap forward and heroically bounce the bullets off his impervious force field. Hal easily follows the crooks and rescues his brother. Sue kisses him with some indelible lipstick, but wouldn't you know it, when she sees Jim the next day he has a bandage over his chin. Cut himself shaving is a poor excuse, she smugly thinks to herself.
