Whatcha Going Do Brother?-Superstars Profile#1

Well, I said a while ago that I was going to do this, so why not now? Now, understand the following work was meant to represent an idealized version of the real life person and by no means an endorsement of the wrestler's views or condoning their actions in the real world. The following is based only on what happened in the ring, plus variations created for story telling effect.

Hulk Hogan
Real name: Terry Bollea
Home: Venice Beach, CA
Membership: Superstars, Boulder Brothers, Mega Powers, Mega Maniacs, NWO (see Earth-WCW)
A.K.A.: Hulk Boulder, Terry Boulder, Super Destroyer, Sterling Golden, Hulk Boulder, Mr. America, Hollywood Hogan
Finisher: Atomic Legdrop

Background: The Superstars were in turmoil. The previous leader, Bob Backlund, had been utterly defeated by the Iron Sheik. With crime on the rise, who could rise up and reclaim the nation's honor?

A former surfer and bass player

Terry Bollea was a pretty mellow dude, playing in a few rinky-dink bands when he decided to get into the world of professional heroes. He found Master Hiro Matsuda, who taught him the ropes, plus a strange new technique. Basically the more people believed in him, the stronger he would get.

From there he still bummed around a bit, at least until Vince McMahon spotted him working with "Classy" Freddy Blassie. Offers were made and soon Hulk Hogan just happened to find and defeat the dreaded Iron Sheik. Hogan quickly took control of the Superstars and for most of the 80's became the face of Titian if not heroes in general.

Of his feuds much has been written. The betrayal of Andre the Giant, his showdowns with the motormouthed Roddy Pipper, and the tragic endings of the Mega Powers; to the public he was the gold standard and everything he did was perfect. Behind the scenes, however, things were growing stale.

Hogan's ego began to grow beyond McMahon's ability to control and in the early 90's the Hulkster was utterly defeated by McMahon's new project-Yokozuna. From there Hogan would be persona non grata until the early 00's, but that is a story for another day.
