Bob Marella could have stayed working the docks and probably make decent money, but putting on a mask and taking on Bruno Sammartino? Immortality
He could have stayed on the wrong side of the law, but his fights with Bruno, well, something opened his eyes and soon he was fighting for the little guy as a member of the Superstars.
But as the 70's gave way to the 80's, Monsoon couldn't quite keep up with the young folks so he retired. He was picked to be the color commentary man for the fights the Superstars got into it, with a smart aleck partner in the form of Jesse "the Body" Ventura.
For the millions at home, it was Gorilla's voice beaming over their radios and out of their TVs. He eventually retired from that too, enjoying a brief run in politics before leaving the stage in 1997.
