Shark Week: Sharks' Treasure (1975)

Sharks' Treasure (1975), dir. Cornel Wilde, Symbol Productions, Inc.

And we're back with another dip back into the briny deep.

Ron (John Neilson) approaches Skipper Jim Carnharn (Cornel Wilde) with a proposition. He has a gold coin, see, and he's pretty confident he knows where more are, the catch being the area is swarming with sharks.

Jim thinks so too, so he hires two divers; cocky Ben (Yaphet Kotto) and dim Larry (David Canary) and off they sail.

This would be a pretty short film if there wasn't a problem besides the sharks but one arrives in the shape of Lobo (Cliff Osmond). Lobo just busted out of the joint with a few close intimate friends and he needs some scratch. When he gets wind of a possible sunken treasure, well I'm sure everyone will be cool with sharing, right?

Not bad, although harking back to the old adventure films rather than horror. Wilde seems obsessed with showing his body off though, even putting in a lengthy one armed pushup sequence.
