Horror 2019 Countdown: The Saga of the Viking Women...(1957)

The Saga of the Viking Women and Their Voyages to the Waters of the Great Sea Serpent (1957) dir. Roger Corman, Malibu Productions

This is both the longest title we've ever had and also the last Corman film from 1957. More sword and sandal, but a sea serpent counts as a monster, right? Even though the film is as padded as the title.

Some time in the distant past, a group of Vikings did as they were want to do and sailed off for plunder. When they fail to return, their women grew restless. Desir (Abby Dalton) the head gal decides this is intolerable and with the other similarly blonde women, and the dark haired priestess Enger (Susan Cabot) in tow they take to the longboats and head out more or less in the same direction.

In short order they end up shipwrecked in the land of the Grimwalds where they encounter whiny princes and also find their men who have been enslaved by the grim rulers as slaves. Enger, however, has an idea. You see, she's had the hots for Desir's boy-toy for a while and she figures if one of them were dead she'd had a better chance.

Poorly researched and with about forty minutes of plot stretched to ninety, I'd say stick with Joel and the Bots version.
