Horror 2022 Countdown: Halloween II (2009)

Halloween II (2009), dir. Rob Zombie, Dimension Films/Spectacle Entertainment Group/Trancas International Films

I wasn't too impressed with Mr. Zombie's previous one, would this one be better?

Laurie Strode (Scout Taylor-Compton) is in a daze, having just shot Michael Myers (Tyler Mane). Paramedics rush to the scene and manage to save both Annie Brackett (Danielle Harris) and Dr. Loomis (Malcolm McDowell) (despite him clearly getting his eyes gouged out in the previous film).

Things are finally over, except for the cow. Yeah, seems the paramedic driving the ambulance manages to hit the one cow in the state and wreck the ambulance. Michael wanders off.

One year passes. Laurie has been formerly adapted by the Becketts but isn't adjusting at all. Loomis, meanwhile, has written another book. The reception to this one is less than stellar when compared to his last one. In fact it is downright hostile, with most of the crowd blaming him for Myers's crimes. Even Weird Al (himself) isn't impressed.

His book also reveals that Laurie is really Angel Myers, which doesn't do Laurie's state of mind much good. Michael, by the way, is working his way back home. Driven by visions of his mother (Sherri Moon Zombie) and a white horse.

Honestly, if you had problems with the previous film this is more of the same. More cameos from character actors, more people being awful. Adequate really, just adequate.
