"Man of Iron" the Transformers#33 (October 1987) with credits to Steve Parkhouse (script), John Ridgeway and Mike Collins (pencils, 1 & 2 and 3 & 4), Joise Fimin, Gina Hart, and Nel Yomtov (colors 1 & 2, 3 & 4, and US), Richard Starkings (letters), and Sheilia Cranna (editor)
Here's a first-a UK story. Yup, this was first published in issues 9-12 of the UK series.
Decepticon jets flyby the rural Stansham Castle deep in the English countryside. Sammy, the caretaker's son, spots an investigating Jazz and freaks out, mistaking him for the legendary 'Man of Iron', which as legends states defended the castle against invaders with a 'javelin of flame'.
Mirage later kidnaps him, which is a pinch awkward.
There is a reason for this, however. Optimus explains to the freaking out boy that when the Autobots crashed on Earth centuries ago, some rescue ships were sent out to find them. They suspect one, 'the Man of Iron' is one of those Autobots.
With the Decepticons increasing their own search for the ship and the weapons therein, can the Autobots find their comrade in time?
Pretty good and totally unlike what was being done at the time with the American series.
