When we last saw Michael, he had been blown up pretty good along with Dr. Loomis. Since part III didn't happened, what has Haddonfield's favorite son been up to?
Turns out being at ground zero of a massive explosion simply knocks you into a coma. Michael Myers (George P. Wilbur) is being transferred back to Smith's Grove when the radio announces the death of Laurie Strobe and her daughter Jamie Lloyd (Danielle Harris) surviving. Which seems oddly specific for a news program, but it happens to be enough to wake Michael up. Clearly wanting to make up for lost time, Michael starts his killing early as he heads back to the home town.
Dr. Loomis (Donald Pleasence), who also survived, is back in action. He gets a gas station blown up though, so he might be a little late.
Jamie Lloyd has already been put in foster care with a nice family. Her foster sister Rachel (Ellie Cornell) is clearly bonding with her, although Jamie seems to have a connection with her uncle Michael.
Michael, using this previously undiscussed psychic link, stalks Jamie and everyone who stands in his way. Dr. Loomis, despite warning the sheriff (Beau Starr), is helpless as Michael slaughters pretty much the entire police department and plunges the town into darkness.
Local barkeep Earl (Gene Ross), however, isn't going to take this laying down. Rounding up every good 'ol boy in the county Michael is going to have deal with some hacked off rednecks beside Dr. Loomis. Will the mob actually get the monster this time?
The years had not been kind to Michael. After Halloween III underperformed, the producers wanted more Myers mayhem, plot be damned. So we get a mishmash of Halloween one and two thrown together with some psychic nonsense thrown in for good measure. It would all be down hill from here.
