Film Guys
Real names: Randy Clower & Richard Malmos

Moving further into the 1980’s, we find something a bit
different. It is rare to find two hosts on one show. It is rarer still to find
one with an proper story behind them. Most hosts have a general background, i.e. vampire, mad
scientist, ghoul, etc., but the Film Guys of the Texas 27 Film Vault on KDFI channel 27 went further than most.
The story is in the name. Randy and Richard were film
technicians-first class and their job was to patrol the massive underground
film vault and protect the thousands of film reels from the dreaded cellumites.
The background was that there were similar film vaults spread across the
country, each defended and connected by miles of super fast rocket cars. Guest
stars would find their way into the vault. Greg Bransom, better known as Professor
Cerberus, acted as producer.
The show was a hit but it was canceled as most shows are
fated. There would only be one more horror host to make a debut in the 1980’s,
but his is a tale for later.
