Dr. Zekow
Real name: Francisco Aquilar
Years active: Late 1960’s to 1972, Laredo, Texas
We finally end the 1970’s with Dr. Zekow, a bug eyed mad
scientist hosting classic films KGNS channel 8 in Laredo. Aside from his habit of devouring toast on
the show, Dr. Zekow was similar to more than a few hosts already mentioned.
Lacking any video and fewer pictures has made the task of listing hosts
difficult. The 1980’s should be somewhat easier.
Dr. Zekow focused mainly on comedy. With his painted ping
pong ball eyes, the show must have been rehearsed to a great degree, as I have
no idea how Aquilar saw what he was doing.
Francisco Aquilar passed away in 1994.
