The Apartment Complex (1999), dir. Tobe Hooper, Pacific Bay Entertainment/Sterling Pacific Films
Ah, dear Mr. Hooper. His career was not doing great at this point, but thankfully Showtime threw him a bone and on Oct. 31st that year they showed his latest flick. Would it be a nail in the coffin?
Stan Warden (Chad Lowe) is your typical grad student, i.e. broke as hell. Thankfully he manages to find a job. Dr. Caligari (Joe Polito) owns an apartment complex downtown and the last manager flaked out on him.
Well, by flaked out I mean was murdered under mysterious circumstances. This is revealed when Stan finds the remains of his predecessor in the apartment's pool.
The rest of the tenants range from character actors being characters to 'No, why should you suspect me of being a killer'? Seriously, stuntwoman, psychics, ex-(maybe?) CIA agents, body doubles, twins, and Patrick Warburton being both goofy and menacing in equal measure?
Not a horrible film but clearly more dark comedy than a pure horror film and I think that harmed the show more than anything.
