Red Water (2003), dir. Charles Robert Camer, New Line Television/Sony Pictures Television
Nearing the end, so why not have the highest rated program on TBS?
Deep in the swamps of Louisianna, a small rig has finally struck it rich. John Sanders (Lou Diamond Phillips), former rig worker and current boat captain, is chartered to take his boat out to said rig by his ex-wife Kelly (Kristy Swanson).
At the same time, a group of not very nice people, led by Ice (Coolio) happen to be heading to that same stretch of swamp, as they have a hot tip that some hot merchandise was dumped in that same plot of mud and water.
Also at the same time, a bull shark has swum up the gulf stream and decides that lonely stretches of swamp would be a perfect hunting ground.
John's first mate Emery (Rob Boltin), upon learning of the shark's existence, declares that the shark is a guardian spirit of the swamp, sent to punish those who intrude on nature. Yeah, seems the shark keeps attacking people and gets driven off, but with each attack he goes further north towards the rig...
All three parties collide. Who will survive and what will be left of them?
Not horrible? I mean, this isn't reinventing the wheel, but it knows what wants to do and it does it with some skill.
