Rewrite the Book: Lance Von Erich

Had a chance to watch some documentaries on World Class Championship Wrestling out of Dallas. Sad, but there was one point that stood out.

WCCW was the home of the Von Erich Family. Their triumphs and tragedies are written better elsewhere, but one relative stood out: Lance Von Erich.

Now, the idea of a false relative in wrestling isn't unusual. Heck, take a look at the Anderson family for starters. Even Ric Flair had a stint where he was Arn Anderson's cousin.

So, when Mike Von Erich came down with toxic shock syndrome, it was decided that his brothers Kevin and Kerry needed a third. They had a similar situation when they brought in Michael PS Hayes, so why they decided to bring in jobber Ricky Vaughn as their never before mentioned cousin I've no idea.

So, assuming I was booking in Dallas back in the 80's, what would I do?

Two ideas

1) Be Honest to a Point; start by having Ricky Vaughn rack up some wins as to get the audience on his side. Kevin and Kerry put out a challenge. "Anyone who wants to tag with us is going to have to beat one of us next week!"

So, Ricky steps up and challenges Kerry and wins. They then go after the Fabulous Freebirds and win.

From there he can leave at some point, maybe even turn heel (reason-jealous, just doesn't like the Von Erichs, etc.)

2) Who was that Masked Man; given that the WCWA Six Man Tag Team titles borrowed a bit from the lucha libre trios match why not go whole hog and make Lance a luchador?

Have Vaughn come out in a mask, say he's their cousin. Why was he never there before? Training in Mexico/injured in an accident hence the mask.
