Going, Going, Gone: The American Elm

So, first chapter of a new feature.

The American Elm

Apparently the single most popular tree of the 19th Century, of which could be said it was found in every state in the Union. At least until the 1930's, when a combination of overplanting and Dutch Elm Disease devastated the plant.

It's still around though, but clearly not the extent that it once enjoyed.
