Re-write the book: The Invasion

Ah, the Invasion. Easily the most anticipated angles in recent memory and the most rage inducing when it finished. So, how would I handle it?

March 26, 2001

Vince McMahon is on Monday Nitro, bragging about how he's won and now he controls all the wrestling. Shane McMahon comes out at the end and says, no, he's the new owner of WCW and like before, WCW is going to kick the WWF's ass once again.

I'd start big. Have Diamond Dallas Page do a run-in on the Rock, Goldberg spearing the Undertaker, etc. The attacks would continue as Shane slowly builds up his roster and making offers to other WWF superstars.

On Monday Night Raw in Atlanta, Shane introduces the new WCW commissioner-Ric Flair! Explaining he's bought the last 30 minutes of airtime of Raw, Flair introduces the first match of WCW, Booker T VS Sting.

Booker wins the match, but Stone Cold Steve Austin runs in and attacks both. Over the next few weeks, Austin would lead the charge and attack after the WCW matches. Things come to a boiling point in July when a WWF/WCW match (Kane VS Lance Strom) is interrupted by Mike Awesome who attacks both. The Dudley Boys, Tommy Dreamer, Raven, Rhino, Justin Credible, and Taz all rush out as Paul Heyman leaves the announcer's booth.

"Ladies and gentlemen, the Invasion has just gotten...extreme!"

From there a 3 way fight between the WWF, WCW, and ECW. People don't know who to trust. Chris Jericho was all 3 promotions. What side is he on?

At InVasion things come to a head. Team WWF VS WCW VS ECW. Austin sits it out, pointing out that while he was treated like dirt both by WCW and ECW, he still hates McMahon even more, so he no shows.

The Rock shows up though and helps turn the tide against ECW.

More later
