Beware the Batman: Family

"Family". Beware the Batman . Cartoon Network, 9 Sept. 2013

Back with another episode

-Pretty decent fight scene between Katana, the Batman and scores of ninjas.

-We cut to six hours earlier. Bruce Wayne is having dinner with Dr. Ravencroft, who is encouraging him to join something called the Argos Club, which she seems to belong to. Katana is attacked by the Silver Monkey

-Now we finally get the info on the Soultaker sword and Katana's role in it. Bruce is put off, apparently, by the deception and accepts Alfred's resignation. He also fires Katana too.

-Bruce spills his story to Ravencroft, who knows the best place to relax-the Argos Club

-And the whole thing was a trap-Ravencroft and the Silver Monkey are on the same side. I can see why Bruce did that, as he used Ravencroft to enter the club...but it has mentioned the club has been trying to recruit Wayne for years apparently. Couldn't he have just strolled in?

-Maybe it wasn't a setup. Katana has a cab waiting...so was she really fired?

-Katana still shows up at the club with the sword though and now we're back to where we came in.

-Fight scene is still good, and one of the best so far, but it's over and we have the villain explaining his plan. The Soultaker Sword does just that-take souls. Silver Monkey intends to use it on Katana and Batman. There is the traditional remark of the weapon being used against the current owner...although Silver Monkey adds a twist by implying Lady Siva (more on her later) won't be an issue with the sword in his hands.

-Lady Shiva (Finola Hughes) disagrees. Silver Monkey orders his ninjas to attack and seems to have forgotten who the boss is. One curbstomping later, Ravecroft is now joined with the sword. There is also the question of why she would do that to someone who, as near as I could tell, was working for her while sparring the one who made it clear he was going to betray her.

-"You forgot about the rocket" Alfred with a RPG for the win.

-Batman is rather proud of his plan, even though as Katana points out Ravencroft is dead (ish) and Lady Shiva now has a weapon of mass destruction. "It wasn't perfect". No kidding

-So now Katana is finally aware that Bruce and Batman are the same. Not terrible, although Batman's arrogance is starting to wear thin. Next time out we see the return of Jim Gordon and Tobias Whale.
