The Spirit is Willing (1967), dir. William Castle, William Castle Productions
William Castle's work as a director was always workmanlike but his attempts at comedy tended to be mixed at best.
The Powell family is renting a small cabin by the sea. Father Ben (Sid Caeser) and mother Kate (Vera Miles) need the break, mostly because their son Steve (Barry Gordon) is driving them up the wall with his pranks.
Steve swears he's innocent, however, putting all the blame on the ghosts. When Uncle George's (John McGiver) boats are sunk, that is the last straw!
Of course, the spirits aren't totally hostile. It seems one of the lady ghosts is rather taken when Uncle George...
A complete waste of John Astin. You've got a lot of people acting funny but not really being funny.
