Aroma of Troma: Vegas in Space (1991)

Vegas in Space (1991), dir. Phillip R. Ford, Troma Entertainment

A first certainly.

Captain Dan Tracy (Doris Fish), along with Lieutenants Dick Hunter (Timmy Spence) and Steve Dane (Lori Naslund) are ordered to investigate the theft of the rare element Girlinium, an element so rare it is only found on one particular cave on one particular planet.

The theft is equally bad as that element is the only thing keeping the planet of Empress Nueva Gabor (Ginger Quest) in orbit thus our brave space explorers have their work cut out for them. There's another catch, as it looks like the theft occurred on a resort planet whose name is so clever I'd rather not spoil it here, and the whole planet does not allow men on it.

No problem thanks to SCIENCE! Captain Tracy and his manly men pop some sex change pills and easily infiltrate the planet as a band of showgirls with a 20th Century themed lounge act.

...lord. I mean, the cast is TRYING, you can tell. Doris Fish apparently viewed this as a passion project and funded this entirely out of pocket, but the jokes are just dumb. Barely MadTV level of wordplay but on the other hand that sort of works for the film. Every scene practically has the cast looking at the camera. "Yeah, this is camp. What are you going to do about it?"
