Nine Deaths of the Ninja (1985), dir. Emmett Alston, Crown International Pictures
Kicking off another tradition, so every Friday this month will be a different ninja film, and boy.
Let's meet the heroes first.
Spike Shinobi (Sho Kosugi)-NINJA, modern dancer, swordsman
Steve Gordon (Brent Huff)-modern solider of fortune
Jennifer Barnes (Emila Lesniak)-scientist and has the hots for Spike, which is just sensible
The three are the top anti-terror agents in the world and it's a good thing too, as Alby the Cruel (Blackie Dammentt) as just taken a school bus full of kids hostage. Their demands ae fairly simple-they want Rahji (Sonny Erang) freed from prison and all police to leave the Philippines. The team is assembled.
So the team is sent into destroy and disrupt Alby's operations. One factory they hit goes FUBAR when they meet Alby's secret weapon-The Dwarf Assassination Squad. Steve and his groin learn the deadliness of the Squad the hard way.
Can the heroes save the kids before Alby shoots any more?
Utterly insane and somehow this just works. Not sure who the other eight deaths refer to though.
