Burying the Ex (2014), dir. Joe Dante, Voltage Pictures/Elevated Productions/Act 4 Entertainment/Scooty Woop Entertainment/Armitage Entertainment
We have two kooky kids in love.
Max (Antony Yelchin) is your typical horror geek. He works in a little hole in the wall shop, selling horror movie memorabilia.
Evelyn (Ashley Greene) is your typical (Hollywood version, anyway) vegan environmentalist.
The problems are quickly apparent. Max seemingly has no spine, going along with just about anything anyone says, while Evelyn isn't happy unless she has Max's entire life scheduled down to the last second. She also hates horror.
So naturally they move in and the problems grow to the point where even milksop Max can't ignore it. For example, going out for ice cream Max encounters Olivia (Alexandra Daddario). Evelyn interprets them saying hello as full blown intercourse, but when Max points out he barely knows the woman, Evelyn turns on the waterworks.
When Evelyn removes every trace of Max's things from their apartment, that's the final straw. Going to his slacker bro Travis (Oliver Cooper) for help, Travis tells him to dump her-but in public. Plenty of witnesses plus an easy escape route if things go south.
Well, things do go south in the worse way when Evelyn is hit by a bus while trying to get to the meeting place. Max doesn't take things well. Max runs into Olivia a few weeks later and they really hit it off. Yup, everything's going Max's way for once.
Then Evelyn knocks on the door. Turns out one should be very careful about promising to be with someone forever, especially around mystic artifacts. Max is a bit put out, and when Evelyn starts developing a hunger for human flesh...
Eh; I mean, a lot of talent is here. Dick Miller especially but they really don't do all that much with the premise. A few puke jokes and only one zombie kill. Honestly disapointing with the talent invovled.
