David Sammartino
Real name: David L. Sammartino
Home: Pittsburgh, PA
Membership: Superstars
A.K.A.: Bruno Sammartino, Jr., David Martino
Finisher: Backbraker Rack
Background: To be the son of a great man can a burden greater than being a nobody. When your dad is the main leader of the Superstars, plus considered the greatest hero of the 1960s, well, the odds are pretty stacked against you.
He wasn't terrible at being a hero, but every time he went out against someone, the comparisons were instantly made. Plus, unlike his father, David wasn't actually beating the crooks.
As mentioned before, Vince Jr. had the idea to have the fight predetermined. David was against this, but Vince convinced him that this would help cement his own legacy. Instead David was used as mere enhancement talent.
David came close to breaking the whole charade when he decided to throw a fight against small time crook Ron Shaw. After that he spilt, trying his hand to be his own hero on his own terms. He retired in 1996.
