We're winding down for the Summer of Love(craft) and now we move into the animation portion. A Lovecraft inspired cartoon?
1897, and a young Howard (Kiefer O'Reilly) visits his father in the local asylum. The older man isn't doing very well, but he regains his sanity long to warn his son to destroy an ancient book he hidden in the family home.
Howard returns home and finds the book, but upon opening it finds himself transported to the frozen realm of R'yleh. Once there he is attacked by Thu Thu Hmong (Sean Patrick O'Reilly), but he befriends the creature and renames him 'Spot'.
Venturing the local castle, they find the land is ruled by Queen Algin (Jane Curtain). She tells him that if he is to get home, he must follow the path that he sees in his dreams. Of course, other people are aware of Howard and his quest, and they are most motivated to stop him...
Interesting? I've yet to read the graphic novel which inspired this film (a failing on my part), so I've only the film. It's not terrible by any means, and better than some of the previous films, but the CGI art is weak and choppy.
