And we're nearing the end in this year's Summer of Love(craft). We've seen shlock, suspense, and Stuart Gordon. Can the creative mind behind WNUF's Halloween Special measure up?

Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday (1993)
Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday (1993) dir. Adam Marcus, Sean S. Cunningham Films
And we're nearing the final stretch. After the last one, where Jason found himself changed back into a child before being washed away by the nightly flood of toxic waste, Paramount sold the whole property to New Line Cinema. They did promise something big, but did they deliver?
Innsmouth (2011)
Innsmouth (2011) dir. Izzy Lee, Nihil Noctem Films
Slightly different take this time out, as this short was made in 2011 but not released until 2015.

Pulse Pounders (1988)
Pulse Pounders (1988) dir. Charles Band, Empire Pictures
Now here's an interesting yarn. Charles Band, before he founded the Puppet Master fueled Full Moon Pictures, had another company. Empire Pictures may not have changed the industry, but it did release such classics as Zone Troopers and Terrorvision. As far as Lovecraft adaptations go, he already had a hit with the Re-Animator, so why not a follow up?

The Whisperer in Darkness (2011)
The Whisperer in Darkness (2011) dir. Sean Branney, HPLHS Motion Pictures/Fungi
Of the whole bunch of films slated for the review this summer, I think this one might be the best. From the same group that made 2005's Call of Cthulu, this time the story would be based on 1930's the Whisperer in Darkness, this time as a black and white talky.

The Last Lovecraft: Relic of Cthulhu (2009)
The Last Lovecraft: Relic of Cthulhu (2009) dir. Henry Saine, Outlaw Films
And now we kick off the Summer of Love(craft) III with one of the newest films to be inspired by the author, rather than based directly off a story.

Friday the 13th, Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan (1989)
Friday the 13th, Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan (1989) dir. Rob Hedden, Paramount Pictures/Horror Inc./Sean S. Cunningham Films
With the first Friday the 13th of 2018 upon us, let's move onto the next chapter in the saga of Mrs. Vorhees' little boy. Things were changing both in Hollywood and in horror in general. The 80's were almost over and the masked slashers were quickly being regulated to the direct to video market. This yarn would also be the last one to be released under the Paramount banner, who after this sold the while thing lock, stock, and machete to New Line Cinema.
Since the end of part 7, in which Tommy Jarvis finally beat Jason and chained his now undead body to the bottom of Crystal Lake, things have been quiet in the little lakefront community.
